Dojo Gym, a 4-session online workshop with Kraye Grymonnt

Price: $400

This is a 4-session online course. The focus in Dojo Gym is the creation, implementation, and refining of exercises. This is about you and how to work towards the thing(s) that you want in your life. Minimal theory, maximum exercising.

Sessions must be used within one month’s time.

Dojo Gyms were originally intended to be practice sessions with spotters or gym buddies (GBs).
It’s always going to be a better experience with a partner.
If you don’t have someone willing to go to the Gym with you, ask and I will do my best to find a partner that fits.

understanding, I wouldn’t be where I am. And I am truly thankful.” -SF

About this online course

First of all, I want to be very, very clear about what this isn’t. This isn’t about TRUTH. This isn’t about finding REAL ANSWERS to REAL QUESTIONS from REAL AUTHORITY FIGURES. This isn’t about how to fix your brokenness or heal your woundedness. This is not about finding the magical solution to get you to the places you want to be. It is REALLY not about pointing at the right way to be or want or feel or think.

Then wtf is this?

It’s an exploration into one way of looking at what it is to be human. And not just, “How are humans human?” in the general sense. There is the specific goal of better understanding why we are the way we are, both as individuals and as human beings, with the intention that, if we don’t like the way our lives are, we can change so that we have more of what we say we want.

A root philosophical hypothesis is that, as humans, values are what make our reality a human reality. Very, very close to this root hypothesis is another, that human values are all learned, that we do not come into this world with any values inscribed in our consciousness. Given that all values are learned, then learning new values is possible.

There are plenty of other philosophical ideas about what makes us human and why we do the things that we do.
This is about accepting certain experimental hypotheses as experimental hypotheses (not TRUTHS), designing experiments with these hypotheses in mind, and see what happens.

The words “chains” and “values”, in this space, are interchangeable.

This online course will explore ….

  • What chains are, how they are useful for human existence, and how they might limit us in ways that we might wish them not to (how they help humans, how they help you, what their objectives are, how they might hinder you).

  • How to identify a chain.

  • What is the difference between a tight chain and a loose chain.

  • How chains construct a box-of-self.

  • How do you decide what to change?

  • How do you change a box-of-self?

  • What is “working a chain”?

  • What is edge-work and how do you know it’s happening?

  • What is Snapback?

  • What is KOOD?

  • What do you mean, “The object is not to have a one-chakra’d experience.”?

  • What is an exercise? What makes for a good exercise vs poor exercise?

  • It is a gradated system, there are belts and these are what the first three are about.

You will be invited to step into experiments that focus on:

  • Seeing your habitual ways of showing up

  • Looking at how you habitually contract under certain types of stress

  • Exploring your dark side

  • Learn to expand your emotional capacity

  • Shift meaning-making habits

  • Zeroing in on the moments when you can make a new move

  • Looking back on that move and perhaps adjusting for the next experiment

Who should come:

First of all, who should NOT come. Basically, if you are happy or content or satisfied with your life, click the damn forward button and move on. This is not for you. This is a disruptive practice. Let me say that again, in all caps, THIS IS A DISRUPTIVE PRACTICE. If you engage with it, there is a good chance that it’s going to create dissonance in your present reality. The good news is that for the vast majority of people, when they experience dissonance in the way that calls into question the way that their box-of-self is creating their reality, the box-of-self simply does whatever it has to do to shore it up again. Usually by leaving the scene of the crime for what it tells you and you believe are very good reasons.

As for why you might consider doing this, I’ll let someone who is in it and has been for a while, speak. I think she pretty much nails it:

What do you get?

Why the hell would you want to embark on such an uncomfortable path?

In the earliest stages, you get to suck less (in your endlessly self-critical opinion, or in the opinion of your current chosen authority figures). This is why most people begin dojo.
You get to be tougher or sexier or calmer or whatever the hell you’ve been telling yourself you lack.
You get the adrenaline rush of being very slightly less of an automaton than you have been your whole life.

In the middle stages, you get freedom and dignity.
You get the recognition that things can occur and your reaction is, actually and truly, completely up to you.
You get the recognition that you don’t have to live in the tiny corner of human beingness you’ve unconsciously delegated yourself to.
You get the openness and fresh air of realizing that truly, deeply, in this human existence - anything goes.
You get the realization that you are one of the two artists creating every moment of your existence, and you’ve making some incredibly boring art up to this point in your life.

In the later stages, you get your own daily, living stream of devotion to the complete confusion that seems to be at the heart of this human existence.
You get relaxation with that gaping we-don’t-know-wtf-any-of-this-is that the mystics and poets keep romanticizing, but really has all the beauty and terror of standing just beneath a tsunami, looking up.

Both beginners and veteran practitioners are welcome.

About Kraye:

I have always been interested in exploration, adventure, and what it is to be human. Well, let me clarify that. It's not just being human, it's how to take that understanding of what it is to be human and becoming "more," whatever "more" might mean. To me, “more” means being more intimate, more courageous, more in alignment with who I want to be rather than who I've been, more open, more accepting, and not being a puppet to my history. To be very, very clear, those are my reasons for doing this work. They are not “the” reasons for doing this work. The ones that motivate you may be totally different than mine.

I don't habitually fit into any PC slots that I know about. I have learned to act more PC than not. For those of you who know me, “Yes, that is me acting more PC. Imagine what it might look like if I wasn’t.” LOL

I ask a lot of questions that probably aren't going to be asked in any kind of polite company.

I am seriously interested in how people make sense of their lives. I am not looking to transcend being human.

I can be quite fierce, and mostly it's to drive a point home.

I believe in speaking to a person’s largeness, not their smallness.

I am not looking to transcend being human.

Not yet sure if this is for you?

Here are some things past Dojo Gym participants said:

"I have been working on a book for years. I have written over 100K words and still no book. I pick it up and work on it for while, lose my enthusiasm, and put it down. I've taken two classes that were supposed to help me finish, but they didn't. It is one week after finishing your class and book one is finished. Now I am trying to decide whether to self publish it or submit to an agency." - GM

"I just completed Kraye's online dojo class. The depth of insight and offerings that Kraye brings to each person's experience and growth edge is quite powerful. My time spent with Kraye and the cohort was well worth it. I highly recommend this course." - DW

"Working with Kraye has offered me a huge turning point in my life.
Do I keep doing things the way I've always done them? Or do I choose something new.
And should I stumble and fall, he helps pick me up and brush me off and sends me on my merry way.
No-one can do the work for you, but it sure is nice to have a good friend along the way.
And for that, I am incredibly grateful."  - BL
